Ship Building and Upgrades

Details

A successful Pirate will understand the necessity of building a ship that is tailored for the upcoming mission. Depending the specifics of a mission, a number of options exist to customize weaponry, power, size, speed and maneuverability. Each choice bears certain consequences, however. For instance, if a player chooses to go for the most power possible, than the ship will be able to handle fewer weapons, or might not be able to have shields.

There are five primary aspects to building the perfect plundering ship (for details, click on the category):

  • Hulls: the skeleton of your ship, and the overall determining factor on how you can customize the other categories. Once you have earned enough money, you can purchase a new hull at the Pirate Base.
  • Engineering: includes reactors (power source) and drives (propulsion).
  • Weapons: there are three primary types of weapons- energy-based, missiles, and projectiles
  • Defenses: the ability to protect your ship during combat will be paramount to a successful mission. Types of defensive options include armor, point defense, and shields.
  • Mission Support Systems: items which allow for boarding and capturing ships, scanning enemy vessels, and more. Go to the Mission Support page for a full list of systems available.
