The Pirate Renegade Faction
The Renegades are a faction of pirates which broke off from the Pirate Base Faction because they didn't want to follow the guidance and government of the Pirate Base. Because of their disregard for rules, Renegades have a negative game impact (can be civilian, OCC, or ECA impact); as such, they are encountered in Bounty Hunter missions.

When a player selects a Bounty Hunter Mission, the Trade Union will provide you with money to find and hunt down an out of control Renegade Ship. The Trade Union will also use Renegades to hunt down an out of control pirate, meaning they may hire a Renegade to find you if you are out of alignment in the game (e.g. have a negative impact with one or more groups in the game). Renegades are a courier class ship and will generally be well armed with medium to long range weapons which increase in size based on the difficulty of the mission, making Bounty Hunter missions more difficult. Generally the reward will be higher than an assassin mission as a result.

Earth Colony Alliance

The Earth Colony Alliance includes the Earth and all of it's loyal colonies. The colonies that make up the ECA are generally within the closest proximity to Earth. Most Pirate activity occurs in the ECA; as food stuffs and other materials acquired here can fetch a high price.
Due to the Civil War with the OCC, raw materials are frequently scare in the ECA. As a result, the ECA ship design has centered on the use of energy weapons and shields to reduce the need for raw materials. The ECA ships include the following: Frigates, Destroyers, Cruisers, and Battleships. Click here to view detailed information.

Galactic Patrol Pirates
Galactic Patrol Pirates is a real time strategy (RTS) computer game utilizing a 2D map of space with graphical sprites representing space ships, moveable weapons, stars and planets. The game puts a single player into the role of a pirate during a galactic civil war. The player survives and improves over time by completing a variety missions.
A map of stars is generated randomly at the beginning of each new game with a solar system being generated for each star. The player starts out at the pirate base and as the player successfully completes missions he is awarded with cash which is used to replenish supplies, upgrade his space ship with new internal systems, or even purchase a new ship of a different hull design. Ships can be reconfigured to appropriately match the type of mission that is to be completed.
The player is competing against other pirates which are controlled by the computer. The game is won or lost at the conclusion of a specified number of missions set by the player and is based on a total score accumulated during the game.

Outer Core Coalition

The Outer Core Coalition (OCC) was formed by the colonies living on the fringe of Earth's colonial system. The OCC has struggled to obtain adequate food supplies from Earth in return for the supply of raw materials from the outer rim planets. As a result, a coalition was formed to become an independent group of colonies, free from the Earth Colony Alliance (ECA). Currently, the two are engaged in a bitter civil war.
Pirates do less work in the OCC, as resources are limited, and therefore the potential bounty small. There will be times that a Pirate must operate within the OCC, however. OCC ships include Frigates, Destroyers, Cruisers, and Battleships. For more detailed information, see the Military Ships page.
