Pirate Ships

Details

Available Pirate ships in the game begin at the most basic level: the hull. The structure of the ship in turn defines the internal systems, the capability of the ship and ultimately its role in the fleet. As the game progresses, a player has the ability to upgrade their ship, including purchasing a different hull. Players can fully customize their ships, selecting the type of reactors, drives, weapons, and support systems. There are five primary hulls used by Pirates:

Pirate Courier Sprite

The Converted Courier is your starting ship when you begin a new game. The ship can be configured to have more than one weapon and care must be used to not get in over your head. It has eight optional internal systems that can be configured for each type of mission and play style.

Raider Sprite

The Raider is the mainstay of the Pirating community. Raiders were once ECA Frigates, but have since been removed from active service and replaced with newer ECA ships. Most were stolen from ECA Bone-yards and refitted. It is a smaller vessel, modestly armed and used to attack and disable cargo vessels in the hopes of pillaging for bounty. The Raider can be equipped with a light mix of offensive and defensive weapons, and potentially the Q-Gun, a Pirate only laser weapon. Details regarding the Pirate Q-Gun can be found in the energy-based weapons section. This will likely be your first hull upgrade. The raider has 12 optional internal systems.

Privateer Sprite

The Privateer is a destroyer class ship with 17 optional internal systems. This is the smallest size hull eligible for mercenary missions. The additional 5 internal systems start to provide the opportunity for a more balanced ship that is capable of surviving some of the more interesting combat situations.

Pirate Corsair

The Corsair is a cruiser class ship with 24 optional internal systems. Ideally suited for support of mercenary missions.

PirateBB Sprite

The Battle Cruiser is your top of the line ship and has 36 optional internal systems. There is nothing this ship can’t do in the hands of a competent captain. The Battle Cruise is capable of dealing massive amounts of damage.

Many Missions will involve engaging civilian vessels. Most often the civilian ships will contain some resource or bounty that can be sold for money and used to upgrade hulls and ship operations. For a detailed look at the civilian ships encountered in the game, click here.
